Earlier this year I wrote an essay for Texas Highways magazine about my family’s first three years living in Texas. The piece includes some biographical and personal material that I’ve not written about before, including a recipe for a classic fish stew from my stomping grounds in coastal North Carolina, a place where we will return the day after tomorrow, a week-long visit with my 95 year old father and my two older brothers. A few weeks ago Texas Highways published a recording of me reading my essay in a studio in Austin. The text and audio are available HERE.
